Position Description:

Leasing Manager is the property’s lead sales position and as such must ensure the leasing team maximizes revenue, achieves results, provides superior customer service and meets lease up goals.

Essential Responsibilities:


  • Ensure the leasing team is focused and highly productive in an effort to meet or exceed leasing goals of new development.
  • Responsible for weekly reporting to Ownership as well as tracking traffic, sources, appointments, and leases daily.
  • Perform all the normal functions of a Leasing Agent.
  • Responsible for reviewing the leasing files to ensure accuracy.
  • Maintain a positive customer relations attitude.


Research & Marketing:

  • Oversee the preparation of market studies of comparable and/or competing properties.
  • Provide appropriate demographic information as well as customer feedback to marketing team to ensure a successful advertising campaign. 
  • Make recommendations with respect to the leasing/marketing operations of the property to the Leasing Director.
  • Contribute ideas for targeting identified demographics.


Management of Leasing Staff:

  • Coordinate onsite schedule.
  • Ensure compliance of policies.
  • Review and approve commissions.
  • Make recommendations for staff changes.
  • Train and coach staff in building and system knowledge and sales skills.
  • Set goals and objectives for staff.


Position may be required to perform duties outside their normal responsibilities as needed and when requested.

Qualifications and Competencies:
  • Minimum 5-7 years experience as a Leasing Representative or Leasing Manager.
  • Minimum 2-3 years of management or supervisory experience.
  • Current New York State Real Estate Salesperson.
  • Knowledgeable of the NYC residential rental market and compliant with all Fair Housing Laws.
  • Experience processing applications, including running credit checks and completing tenancy reference checks, creating leases and utilizing electronic lease signing programs Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel and ability to learn various property management systems (Yardi, MRI, RealPage).
  • Must be able to work weekends. 
  • Demonstrate strong selling skills by ability to prospect and qualify leads, identify customer needs, translate features to benefits, deliver effective demos, negotiate and close sales. 
  • Demonstrate leadership using diplomatic skills during difficult situations with employees, tenants, brokers or staff/management.
  • Demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills.
