Rose Associates Signs 882 S.F. Lease with Bombay Sandwich Company at 48 West 27th Street

Rose Associates has announced the signing of a 10-year lease with Bombay Sandwich Company at The Capitol at Chelsea, a luxury residential rental building located on Avenue of the Americas between 26th and 27th Streets in Manhattan. 

Bruce Spiegel, senior managing director for Rose, represented The Capitol at Chelsea in the lease transaction. Bombay Sandwich Company was represented by Jessica Hoppe of Redwood Property Group. 

“Bombay will be a nice addition to the other restaurants located at The Capitol and surrounding buildings,” said Spiegel. “This is a dining destination for the neighborhood, which offers a strong residential and office population that gives retailers year-round foot traffic.” 

This is the first time the popular vegetarian sandwich purveyor will operate out of a dedicated storefront. The company has its roots in Brooklyn’s Smorgasburg, a collection of food and beverage purveyors that gathers at two different locations each weekend. 

The Capitol at Chelsea was among one of the first modern residential towers to be developed in the area a decade ago. Bombay Sandwich Company joins Red Mango, Melt Shop, and Starbucks at the property, which is also home to a Valley National Bank and Serenity Spa. Bombay’s space is on the north portion of the building’s public plaza, which runs the full block from West 26th Street to West 27th Street. The Capitol’s commercial space is currently 100 percent leased.
