Rose Associates Receives REBNY Award for RoseCares

Rose Associates, the New York-based full-service real estate firm, was recognized today with a REBNY Award for its RoseCares program. The award for community service was presented to Rose at REBNY’s annual Residential Management Leadership breakfast.

“We’re very pleased with the early success of RoseCares, and we are certainly honored that the program will be recognized by REBNY,” said Amy Rose, co-president of Rose Associates. “RoseCares is 100 percent employee-driven, and with each new initiative we are seeing buy-in from a larger group of employees. It seems that the spirit of volunteerism and charity is contagious.” 

RoseCares was established in 2013 after the company’s routinely solicited employee feedback showed that there was significant interest in serving the community in some way. A RoseCares committee was formed and various charitable opportunities were considered. To date, the program has worked with such organization as New York Cares, The Bowery Mission, City Harvest, Food Bank For New York City and the U. S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program. 

Since the inception of RoseCares, Rose employees have donated more than 100 coats, collected more than 400 toys and provided more than 1,000 meals for the homeless and hungry of New York City. In an effort to encourage employees to work together for the common good, Rose created a Volunteer Time Off policy that provides all employees of the firm a half-day of paid time-off each year for volunteer opportunities. Employees can volunteer together or elect to do so individually at a charity of their choosing. 

“We recently had a Corporate Repack at City Harvest and it was a blast,” said Will Fulton of Rose Associates, who organized the Rose team under the Volunteer Time Off program. “There were 18 of us in all, and we packaged more than 14,000 pounds of potatoes in just a few hours. It’s great that Rose gives us an opportunity to take time off with a group of colleagues for service activities.” 

The RoseCares committee is planning volunteer dates with City Harvest and Riverside Park Conservancy this year for employees who want to participate together under the Volunteer Time Off policy.
